PARISH NURSING

Parish Nurse Update

Once again we wait on our spring, a season of new hope, new beginnings, and new life. We especially remember this season, and the life of one man who was sacrificed to free us from sin so that we could have eternal hope. We remember the life and loss of Jesus. Can you imagine how His family, friends and followers may have felt? When He was crucified on the cross and laid to rest in the tomb. I believe that each and every one of us has experienced some of the emotions and felt them in their own lives, after a significant loss. Death is not the only significant loss that results in grief. “The loss of relationship, a job, a pet, a home, a business, your health, a material possession, a role in life or your hopes and dreams for a situation: all these life losses cause grief.” Each loss may be different but the worst kind of loss is yours. The way out of grief is through it. Grief is painful: Loss is one of the most difficult human experiences. It is also healthy and we need to find the courage to go through this experience. Your grief will affect your life emotionally, physically, socially and spiritually. A few years ago, I had the privileged of hearing Dr. Bill Webster speak. He understands grief from personal experience. After the death of his wife, he struggled to come to terms with his loss. Some of his writings are in the parish nurse resource files. Should you wish to learn more about this topic or discuss your own loss. Please contact me and I will try to obtain what you need or just listen. Love, Peace & Joy! Yvonne Webb, DSW, PSW @429-2875
